Ooo very awesome, you must have been quite persistent to get such a cool shot! (my camera would never be able to get a shot like that since it has to focus on something for a sec before taking a picture >_<;)

Yeah some cameras are like that. Do you have a manual setting at all? When on Automatic the camera I used has to focus, but when on manual I can focus it myself and it will take a pic no mater what. :)
